Sir Elton John gave an emotional, heartfelt farewell to his fans in Christchurch after his recent show in the Garden city.
Elton is in the midst of his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour' which will be his final show, which means this is the final time he's performing in Christchurch.
The 'Tiny Dancer' singer starts his farewell by recognising the turbulent last few years the city has experienced.
"It's wonderful to be here tonight because throughout the last few years you've gone through hell," the 75-year-old said. "It's nice to come and play to people and see that they've begun to heal. This is a very resilient city, it's a beautiful city."
"Everybody abroad was watching you and wishing you good things and I can assure you that is the absolute truth," he continued. "So well done Christchurch, you've come back from a hell of a place."
John then thanked those specifically in the crowd for showing up in not the greatest weather and even pointed towards individuals for their outfits.
"Thank you for coming tonight. It's been an absolute pleasure to play for you in the cold, and a little rain."
"Thank you for dressing up, three outfits in the front. So many wonderful outfits: some Dodger stadium outfits, some Watford supporters over there."
"Thank you for putting so much effort into coming to this show; it really makes me smile and it makes me feel really good."
Finally, the iconic musician talked about how much he loves our country and praised us with compliments before saying he'll miss us.
"Throughout all the years I've been coming to New Zealand, you've always made me feel welcome, you've always made me feel loved."
"You've been loyal, you've been kind, you've been generous and I will miss you, but you're in there, you're always in there okay," he said, gesturing to his heart.
"I wish you love and happiness and health and prosperity. Be nice to each other and farewell."
We'll miss you too Elton! Elton has two more shows left in the NZ stretch of his farewell tour, both at Auckland's Mount Smart Stadium.
