If you're starting to worry summer might be slipping away, the Concert Chamber at the Auckland Town Hall is where you want to be this March.
That's set to be the home of Helios, a larger-than-life multisensory sculpture of the sun arriving in NZ for the first time as part of the Auckland Arts Festival.
Made by UK artist Luke Jerram, the artwork is created at a scale of 1:200 million, constructed from around 400,000 images of the surface of the Sun. It blends real solar imagery from astrophotographers with NASA solar observations, as well as some animated lighting and surround-sound for good measure.
It's totally free to visit from the 7th to the 15th of March, but for to really level up your experience, you can take part in yoga, meditation or breathwork sessions under the glow of Helios - also for free!
The sunrise sessions are designed to allow participants to "engage their senses, explore natural rhythms, and connect with the Sun in a fun, multisensory experience", and even better, Auckland's changeable weather doesn't need to be factored in.

The classes take place at 7:30 am Monday - Friday (9th - 13th March) and 8:30 am on the weekend (14th + 15th March) with a special children and teens session on Sunday.
Sessions are around an hour long, and mats are provided. Whether you're keen on practical breathwork, a healing soundbath or a (literal) sun salutation, "the light-filled environment encourages presence and focus, helping participants feel grounded, energised, and ready to begin their day with clarity".
