Woman accused of shooting at Rihanna judged mentally fit to stand trial

A Los Angeles judge has ruled that the woman accused of shooting at A$AP Rocky and Rihanna's Beverly Hills home in March is mentally fit to stand trial.

The ruling was made by Judge Maria Cavalluzzi during a hearing at Los Angeles County court on Tuesday, The Associated Press reports.

"Criminal proceedings are reinstated," Judge Cavalluzzi said following months of psychiatric evaluations.

Ivanna Ortiz has remained in custody since her March arrest. She's currently facing 13 felony charges, including one count of attempted murder, 10 felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper. She faces up to life in state prison if convicted.

The 36-year-old was referred for a competency assessment in May, when her attempted murder case was suspended.

Ortiz is accused of shooting at Rihanna's house with a semi-automatic rifle, prompting the singer to push her husband, A$AP Rocky, to the ground to take cover.

She has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Prosecutors claim Ortiz drove to the home on 8 March and fired the rounds while the property was occupied by the famous couple, their three young children, and the Umbrella singer's mother.

At a prior hearing, Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott called the incident "an extremely dangerous deliberate shooting in occupied homes".

He said the shooting lasted several seconds and could have been deadly.
