Will Smith posts a written apology to Chris Rock after slapping him at the Oscars

"Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive."

It was the story that broke the internet, so by now you should be aware of went down at the Oscars yesterday between Will Smith and Chris Rock.

As soon as it happened it seemed as though the whole world was asking whether or not the moment was real or staged?

It was then revealed shortly after that it was indeed a real occurance, and since then people have wondering what will happen next?

And now we have our answer in the form of a written apology by Smith to Rock, posted to his social media today.

Here is the apology in full:

"Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night's Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada's medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.

I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.

I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us.

I am a work in progress.

Sincerely,

Will"

After winning the Oscar for best actor, Will did give a tearful apology to the academy for what he'd done, but today he decided to take that one step further by addressing the comedian directly.

Fortunately for Will, Chris Rock has decided against pressing charges, so there will be no legal ramifications for his violent outburst.
