Why was the sky tower lit up blue last night? 'Aquaman' star Temuera Morrison has the answer

Uncle knows.

If you were in Tamaki Makaurau last night, you may have noticed that the tall and pointy building poking out of the skyline was a deep shade of blue.

You're probably wondering wtf that's all about and, just like always, uncle has the answer. Temuera Morrison and his next big-time role is why the Sky Tower changed its colours.

He is returning as Thomas Curry, the dad of Jason Momoa's Aquaman character, in the upcoming 'Aquaman and The Last Kingdom' movie.

"'Aquaman 2' has a big surprise for all the Aucklanders and Kiwis," Morrison said in an Instagram story. "We are going to be lighting up the Sky Tower in blue in honour of Tangaroa - the ocean - and 'Aquaman 2'."

The landmark will stay blue until Jan 5 2024. If you head over to check it out, you'll also see a replica of Aquaman's massive seven-metre trident. You can even get in the draw to own it by scanning the QR code at the display.

With the movie coming out on Boxing Day, Morrison's been sharing some behind-the-scenes info about the film, including a cute af story about what he overheard Momoa telling his kids.

"I found out he said [on set] to his children, 'See that guy over there? He's the reason I became an actor," he told AM.

"He's taken care of me, put me in a couple of Netflix films. It was very much an honour and a privilege to play his dad in the first one and even more of a privilege to get invited back for a second one."

Another of Morrison's films is getting a sequel, but this time in the form of a TV show. 'Once Were Warriors: Generations' will be a series based on the iconic Kiwi film that starred Morrison as Jake 'The Muss' Heke.

There is currently no release date and filming hasn't started. We do know the series will be filmed in Aotearoa "to ensure authentic representation of Maori, and the country's landscapes, awa, and moana."

It's unclear if Jake will be returning as a character yet, so, to get your Tem fix in the meantime, you'll just have to catch the Aquaman sequel.
