Anzac Day is this Saturday, April 25, with dawn and civic services happening right across Aotearoa.
If you’re planning to head along, the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services' Association (RSA) has shared details of services happening nationwide - including times and locations so you can find the one closest to you.
They’ve also got info on civic services if you’re heading to something a little later in the day.
If your local service isn’t listed, don’t stress - your best bet is to check your local council website or get in touch with your nearest RSA for the details. You can find contact details for your nearest RSA here.
Anzac Day Resources
Want to brush up on the meaning behind the day? There are a bunch of resources available if you’re keen to learn more about the history of Anzac Day and why it’s marked on April 25 each year.
You can also download the Ode of Remembrance in both te reo Māori and English — the powerful words often read at services:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We will remember them. We will remember them.
For whānau with kids, there are a few easy ways to get them involved too - including a printable poppy colouring activity and Anzac-themed word searches to help spark conversations about what the day means.
Cut and colour Poppy - A fun and simple way for our young children to take part in Anzac Day - just colour in the poppy and cut along the dotted lines.
Whether you’re heading to a dawn service or just taking a quiet moment, it’s a day to reflect and remember.
