Wellington Chocolate Factory launch limited edition vegan Oat Milk bar

Wellington Chocolate Factory have done it again!

Wellington Chocolate Factory (WCF) might just be a vegan's best friend, having released another tasty-looking, ethically sourced, chocolate bar.

Released yesterday to celebrate World Chocolate Day, WCF says they've been working on the Oat Milk flavour for months. In a press release, they said their chocolate makers have been "perfecting the recipe to get just the right mix of NZ oats and Vanuatu beans to deliver a smooth, creamy, and silky bar."

Um . yes please!!

Not only does it sound delish, but the cocoa beans used in the bar are ethically sourced and really help out the suppliers! Vanuatu farmers supply the cocoa beans to WCF, and they are paid at least $4000 per tonne, double the price they normally get paid - good stuff WCF!

"This matters because most other chocolate makers only pay the commodity price," says Gabe Davidson, the co-founder of WCF.

"Too many cocoa farmers, their families and communities live in poverty because they aren't paid enough. By building direct relationships with our farmers and paying them what they deserve, we not only get to use the finest beans, we're also lifting the industry."

This is the third vegan chocolate bar that WCF has released. Their last two flavours - Coconut Milk and Peru Dark - both won awards at the NZ Vegan Chocolate awards, which we did not was a thing but now that we do, we want nothing more in life than to be a judge of it.

Currently, the bars are sold out, but WCF has let us know a new batch will be coming eventually, so keep your eyes peeled!
