The good buggers at Burger King sent The Rock HQ a bunch of their new Le Burgers and I’ll tell ya what, they were blimmin’ tasty.
Burger King has launched two versions of the burger - chicken and beef - both complete with melted cheese, fresh lettuce, and wholegrain mustard mayo. Plus, two types of onions - caramelised onion relish and crispy onions. How good.
Personally, I’m not the hugest fan of mustard, so I wasn’t sure how I was gonna feel about it (but I also wasn’t gonna deny a free burger when I came across it on my desk). I was pleasantly surprised to find out the mustard flavour wasn’t too overpowering and I gladly chomped the whole thing down.
I thought the crunchy onions gave it some nice texture, ‘cause if there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I like a bitta crunch in my food. Plus, the chicken patty was on point. Honestly, can’t complain at all.
But any good review needs more than just one opinion, so I called in some help from my Rock co-workers.
Matt from Promos tried both the chicken and beef options (greedy bugger), and he reckoned “you can’t go wrong either way.
“Crunchy onions were definitely the right choice, but holy the caramelized ones went hard!” he added.
The general consensus around the office was pretty much the same. Westie Lee, who sunk his teeth into the chicken burger, reckons, “This was the best thing I've had in my mouth in quite some time! It was ‘le mean as’ for sure.”
We had some onion fans too. Our videographer Jacob said “I'm always a sucker for crispy onions so they're a nice welcome, and the caramelised onion spread on the beef patty provided a nice tang.”
Showboss Tiegs was also a fan of the onions: “Holy hecka, what a delicious burger! The crispy + caramelised onion combo is a really nice touch that isn't over the top.”
“Wow, the onions,” said Intern Maia. “I didn't think it got better than caramelized onions in a burger, but it does - crunchy onions. Great touch.”
Becca from Integration echoed the onion-sentiment, “Never thought that 2 types of onion in a burger could go that hard. I was a big fan of the sweet caramelized flavor paired with the tangy mustard.”
The onions were a hit. Rock Night’s Honeybone reckons, “There is nothing better than caramelised onions in a burger, le best thing I've had in ages.”
As for Sam from Digital, he was a biiiiig fan of the wholegrain mustard mayo: “I would literally drink the stuff if I could.”
Even the non-fast-food people were stoked: “I found the burger to be filling but not too heavy - pleasantly surprised as a non fast food eater!” said Liv from Events.
Mik from Integration felt the same. “I'm not usually big on fast food burgers, but this one hit the spot. Crispy and caramelised onions, heaps of mustard, and a decent size too. It was actually way better than I expected, Très bien!”
While Brad the Boss, the man who has a way with words, said “From one BK to another, Le Fuck Yeah.”
So there you have it. Credit where credit’s due - Burger Kings new Le Burger slaps. They’re only around for a limited time so go sink ya teeth into one.
