WATCH: Trailer for Lord of the Rings prequel series, 'Rings of Power' has dropped

The show is set in an era where characters confront the re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.

The official trailer for Amazon Prime's upcoming Lord of the Rings prequel, 'Rings of Power,' has dropped - and me oh my it looks sick.

The upcoming series is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will follow the "heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history" for the very first time.

The show will take viewers back to an era where they face the "greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien's pen" as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.

"From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone," an official press statement reads.

Have a watch of the trailer below.

Fans are stoked with the trailer, but a lot also have worries about how the story will be told, considering there'll be a lot of original material added to Tolkien's original stories.

"The visuals are stunning, but let's be real, we all fear about the quality of the story," the top comment reads.

"The 2nd age has an incredible story. I believe an even better story than the 3rd. However for them to depict it on the screen makes me very worrisome. I hope all goes well and the story is captivating," another comment reads.

The show better hold up, because Amazon have apparently spent $1 billion on the series, and its already set to run for five seasons.

I guess we'll find out if the Amazon Prime series does it justice when it drops on September 2nd.

Here's hoping!
