Watch the trailer for upcoming Sex Pistols' TV series, 'Pistol'

'This is the story of a band of spotty, noisy, working-class kids with 'no future,'.

The first trailer for the new Sex Pistols series is here.

Directed by Danny Boyle, 'Pistol' follows the groups rise to fame in the mid 1970s.

"We're going to kick this country awake if it kills us," says Johnny Rotten played by Anson Boon.

The series is based on Pistols guitarist Steve Jones' (played by Toby Wallace in the series) memoir Lonely Boy: Tales From A Sex Pistol.

Alongside Boon and Wallace, 'Pistol' stars Jacob Slater as drummer Paul Cook, Christian Lees as original bassist Glen Matlock and Louis Partridge as his replacement, Sid Vicious.

Sydney Chandler will play Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde, and Emma Appleton portrays Vicious' girlfriend Nancy Spungen.

"The furious, raging storm at the centre of this revolution are the Sex Pistols – and at the centre of this series is Sex Pistols' founding member and guitarist, Steve Jones" reads the official synopsis.

A week before the release, Sex Pistols fans will also get a new 20-track compilation of the bands work titled 'The Original Recordings'. While fans will be excited about the news, Rotten, Born John Lydon, has voiced his disapproval.

"For the avoidance of any doubt, John Lydon has not approved this compilation and does not endorse or support it," the singer wrote on Facebook.

"He has not approved the artwork or track listing. He and his team were not involved in producing this compilation and consider it substandard compared to previous Universal releases since 2012."

It's not just the compilation Lydon has an issue with, last year the singer tried unsuccessfully to block the series 'pistol'. however when the band took him to court, the rights to the series were granted and this May 31st, will be released on Disney+.
