Six60 put on another incredible Six60 Saturdays show in Tamaki Makaurau/ Auckland. After learning of the Black Ferns Women's Rugby World Cup win during their Rotorua show, the band decided to bring the women on stage for an epic celebration.
In a video posted to Twitter, the Black Ferns joined the band on stage with their RWC trophy and hyped the crowd as the band sang the fitting tune 'The Greatest'.
They captioned the post: Don't get to take the Rugby World Cup onstage and sing 'The Greatest' with Six60 very often. Definitely one for the books."
Check out the TOTT podcast to hear Six60's Chris Mac respond to the racist Aussie TV host who criticised their Te Reo tour poster:
Lead singer Matiu Walters paused before their last song of the night telling the crowd: "They made history at the stadium last week."
He continued: "Auckland city, give it up for your Black Ferns," as members of the team popped their heads out of the window of the tiny 660 Castle Street replica.
In the clip, fans sang along to the tune as they jumped up and down in joy celebrating the Black Fern's appearance.
Comments of support and pride came flooding in the comments section.
One proud fan wrote: "The best seeing u up there! Ohhhhhh the chills when u guys came out! THANK YOU!"
"This was the greatest. Epic ladies just epic you deserve it," echoed another.
A third shared their love and support writing: "So proud of our Black Fern ladies!!!"
The Ferns stayed after their appearance on stage with the band at Eden Park to meet their supportive fans.
After the show, they opened the windows of their stadium room, hosting a meet-and-greet with the trophy.
The journey these wahine have taken this year to highlight women in sport has been fantastic to watch. They truly deserve all of the love and support they are continuing to receive as champions of Aotearoa!
