Dan from The Edge Breakfast show has done a few crazy stunts in his time, but this week’s ‘Who Dares Dan’ might just take the (very high-up) cake.
In a challenge he only found out about on location, Dan was dropped at the base of Auckland’s Skytower and told he had just 20 minutes to scale all 328 metres of it. Not just to the public viewing platform, but right to the nest at the very top, a place the general public can't even go.
The mission? Climb it, slap an Edge sticker on the tippy top.
Meanwhile, back at The Edge HQ, Clint and Meg were camped out with binoculars, trying to spot Dan as he made his way up the tower. Guess you can say they were on the edge of their seats (literally).
Armed with nothing but a harness, shaky legs, and the promise of scoring a listener some cash, Dan pushed through a whole lot of puffing, panic, and probably a fair bit of inner screaming to get the job done.
Climbing through the final hatch and out to the nest, the wind was blowing, and the sun was shining. He successfully, and very proudly, whacked the biggest purple and orange Edge sticker onto the top of the SkyTower.
What’s next for Who Dares Dan? Honestly, even he doesn’t want to know.
