WATCH: Ruel's beautiful cover of Olivia Dean and Sam Fender's ‘Rein Me In’

The Ash London Show’s iconic 'Undercover artist' segment is back, and this time, Aussie singer Ruel stepped into the studio to stir up some serious mystery.

For those unfamiliar with the game: The Ash London show co-hosts Yas and Harrison are facing away from the stage while a mystery artist plays a live acoustic set right in front of them. Stripped of all visual cues, the hosts have to rely fully on their ears to guess exactly who is behind them

This week, it was Aussie singer-songwriter Ruel's turn to put their musical intuition to the test. Armed with nothing but his acoustic guitar and his signature vocals, he delivered an AMAZING cover of Olivia Deans ’Rein Me In’.

Ruel smashed it out of the park with this live cover. Playing it with just his acoustic guitar meant you could actually focus on his voice, from really deep, smooth tones right into those higher, raspy notes he’s known for. It just proved that he doesn't need a bunch of loud background music or studio effects to sound incredible.

As Ruel’s iconic voice filled the studio, Yas and Harrison were surprisingly still torn. After a minute, Yas seemed to catch on to his familiar vibe. Harrison, on the other hand, was locked in deep thought, trying to pick apart his vocals to figure out who it could be. 

When it came time for the big reveal, the hosts held up their whiteboards to show their final guesses. Yas nailed it with Ruel while Harrison threw a curveball, guessing fellow Aussie singer Cody Simpson.

"You actually have a very distinct voice," Yas told him as the excitement settled. 

"As soon as it went low, I was like, 'That's Ruel!'"

Just proves that no matter what, a voice that good is always going to stand out.
