Watch: Maori All Blacks pay tribute to late teammate Sean Wainui with spine-tingling haka

Wainui's family were also presented with a gift from the Irish rugby team

Last night the Maori All Blacks honoured their late teammate Sean Wainui before their match against Ireland. The Maori ABs, who would go on to win the game 32 - 17, performed a powerful haka as a tribute to the winger, who also played for the Chiefs and Bay of Plenty provincial side.

Wainui, who passed away in October of last year, was also honoured by the Irish team. Captain Bundee Aki laid down an Irish jersey with the number 11 on it while the Maori ABs were about to start their haka. When the haka finished, Wainui's widow and two children took to the field to receive the Irish jersey as the crowd at FMG Stadium in Hamilton cheered them on.

Wainui was highly regarded amongst his team, with coach Clayton McMillan saying he was not just an extremely talented rugby player, but also an awesome family man. "He epitomised everything you could possibly ask for in a player," he told Stuff just after Wainui's death last year.

Last year, Wainui cemented himself in history when he broke the record for the most tries ever scored in a Super Rugby match, dotting down five times against the Waratahs.
