The mid-year gaming season is officially here, and Sony is bringing the heat. The June 2026 PlayStation State of Play is currently streaming live on YouTube and Twitch, promising over 60 minutes of massive game reveals, gameplay deep dives, and announcements for the PS5.
For Kiwi gamers, this showcase comes at the perfect time, kicking off just as the morning coffee hits. PlayStation fans have been eagerly waiting for this one, especially since Sony announced they are treating it as a major event, even hosting live theatrical viewings in select cities overseas.
So, what is on the agenda? Sony Interactive Entertainment Content Communications Manager Tim Turi confirmed exactly how the event is starting.
"State of Play returns Tuesday, June 2 with more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world," Turi shared on the official PlayStation Blog.
He also confirmed the headline act that fans have been desperate to see since it was first teased.
"To kick things off, you'll get a closer look at Marvel's Wolverine. Insomniac Games will share more from its upcoming third-person action-adventure game showing off Logan's brutal and relentless combat along with some new details," Turi added.
It has been confirmed that this fresh take on the comic book legend will officially launch on the PlayStation 5 on September 15. But beyond Wolverine, Sony has kept the rest of the 60-minute runtime tightly under wraps, leaving plenty of room for heavy-hitting rumours.
One of the biggest speculations heading into the stream is an update from Naughty Dog. Fans are hoping to finally see gameplay for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which was originally announced back at The Game Awards in 2024.
There is also intense chatter around Santa Monica Studio. Rumours suggest a new God of War spin-off is in the works, produced by Cory Barlog. Insiders claim this new entry will centre on Kratos' wife, Faye, and feature a more action-heavy combat style.
Role-playing fans also have their fingers crossed for Square Enix. With the Final Fantasy Remake Trilogy nearing its conclusion, many expect to see a title reveal and teaser trailer for the highly anticipated third and final part.
On the hardware and accessories front, we could see more information regarding the recently leaked FlexStrike wireless fight stick and the upcoming Pulse Elevate wireless speakers. Sony has also been pushing their hardware lineup with a new 27-inch gaming monitor launching in August.
Third-party developers are expected to have a massive presence as well. Fans are keeping a close eye out for a release date for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, alongside updates for the timed PS5 exclusive Silent Hill: Townfall.
Other heavily rumoured titles floating around the internet include Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a new kart racing spin-off titled Super Yooka-Laylee Kart, and Rayman Legends Retold.
Fighting game enthusiasts are also hoping to see new character reveals for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls ahead of its August6 launch, especially since the villain Carnage was teased in a recent trailer. Additionally, fans of first-person shooters might get a glimpse of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone Season 04, which are set to launch on June 4.
Whether you are tuning in on your monitor, TV, or phone, this State of Play is shaping up to be one of the biggest digital showcases of the year.
