It’s always a buzz seeing Kiwi musicians gain success overseas - but it seems to be even more of a shock to the artists themselves.

NZ singer Paige recently shared her experience hosting a meet and greet in Asia, and let’s just say, her expectations were exceeded, big time!

Paige was in Macao for Creator Week Asia - a five-day festival celebrating content creators and brands while connecting with fans - and the reaction she got had her genuinely shook.

“It’s so funny being in a country as small and far away as New Zealand, where not too many people listen to my music and then suddenly in Asia people think I’m cool,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Super grateful that my music is being heard in such cool places.”

In the video, Paige can be seen nervously laughing between meeting fans, even joking at one point that the people lining up for photos must be paid actors.

“Apologies for my low self-esteem and imposter syndrome here hahaha I was in total disbelief,” she added.

Honestly, it's just that classic humble Kiwi energy coming out, because back home, fans know Paige is one of the most talented - and down-to-earth - artists.

“That is actually so gangsta haha and so buzzy that it’s so far from NZ 😀🔥,” one person wrote under the video.

“I love how unassuming and humble you are, you amazing human,” said another.

A third added: “You deserve all the love you receive girl! Back yourself.”

It's no surprise to any of us that Paige has made waves overseas - she's achieved loads in the last few years.

Back in 2024, after months of campaigning on her socials, Paige was asked to open for the Jonas Brothers at their Auckland Spark Arena show. She lived out every Disney fan's dream, by duetting the iconic ‘Camp Rock’ track ‘This Is Me’ alongside Joe Jonas and crushed it.

Before that, she went platinum in South Korea in 2023, racked up more than 75 million global streams, and headlined her first show in Seoul last year.

She has shared stages with Six60, Drax Project, George Ezra, Grent Perez, Nina Nesbitt, Dylan, G Flip, Holly Humberstone and collabed with international artists including, Norwegian pop artist Peder Elias and US singer Ant Saunders.

AND She won 'Best Māori Female Solo Artist' at the 2021 Waiata Māori Music Awards, plus nominations for 'Album of the Year' and 'Best Pop Act' at the 2024 AMAs - so she really does deserve all that is coming her way.

We can’t wait to see her continuing to smash it on the world stage and everything else she achieves along the way.
