One of the most recognizable, and richest voices in Aotearoa Dallas Tamaira shares an intimate 10-minute mini-documentary, 'Kaikoura Calling'.
The Fat Freddy's Drop front-man returns to where he grew up, to reconnect with whanau and whenua, as he works on new musical material. He shares stories of his journey, and the part Kaikoura played in that journey. Allowing the jaw-dropping natural beauty of the area to take centre stage in this doco, Dallas shares a range of new songs and takes us inside his home studio as he works on his upcoming solo EP "Levels".
Tamaira has been releasing a handful of tracks under his own name, including 'No Flowers', 'Just Fine', and 'Spider'. Flexing his creative juices without the pressure of Fat Freddy's Drop. What has emerged has been soulful, introspective, and a powerful reflection of the man he has become.
"Some places are just a part of our DNA. They tell the story of who we are and help us to see the world in a different light. We feel at peace when we are there, and when we leave, we feel energised and ready for whatever comes next," Tamaira said.
Check out the doco and get ready for some solo Dallas Tamaira music to come soon.
