Pearl Jam’s ‘Black’ has landed at #8 in the 2026 Rock 2000, keeping one of grunge’s most emotional songs firmly in the listeners faithful rotation.

The song first appeared on Pearl Jam’s 1991 debut album Ten, released on August 27 that year. Written by Stone Gossard with lyrics by Eddie Vedder, ‘Black’ sits right in the middle of an album that helped turn Pearl Jam into one of the biggest bands of the ’90s.
