Country music superstar Dolly Parton made one of her biggest fan's wishes come true in an emotional yet sweet phone call.
LeGrand Gold has been battling with Stage IV colorectal cancer for a couple of years and was recently told by doctors that treatments were no longer working. Upon receiving the initial diagnosis, he made a bucket list which included 'Meet Dolly Parton'.
Just before Christmas, the '9 to 5' hitmaker called LG, sharing her appreciation for his fandom and even ending the call by singing 'I Will Always Love You'.
"I've heard you've been a fan of mine for many years," Parton said during the call. "And I just wanted to thank you for that."
"I'm just happy that we get to kind of have our journey together in this lifetime," she continued.
"I always want to make people happy with my music and with the things I do and the things I say and I'm just happy to know that I've touched your life in some way. So thank you for honouring me with that."
"That's awesome," LG replied. "You've been a really big help, especially these last few years."
Finally, Dolly ends the phone call by singing: "I will always love you. I will always love LG."
After the call, LG was in disbelief.
"She sang me a song," he told KSL TV. "She put my name in a song. I feel like I'm immortal now."
He added that he doesn't know how much time he has left, so isn't sure if he'll be able to complete the rest of his bucket list. A few of the other items on the list are: 'Match Madness', 'RV Grand Canyon with the kids' and 'Cruise Alaska'.
We hope that LG can complete the rest of his bucket list and we're so happy he got to share that moment with Dolly.
