Two Metallica fans have been arrested after climbing a sound tower during the band’s gig in Perth on Saturday night (Nov 1).

Metallica delivered a 16-song-set to over 60,000 fans at Perth’s Optus Stadium for their first show back in Australia in over a decade.

During One - the second to last song for the night - two blokes decided to scale one of the central speaker towers.

In a clip posted by 10 News Perth, the two fans are seen climbing up the tower ladder, before police show up and instruct them to get down. As soon as the two men made it to the bottom, they were arrested, escorted out, and later charged with trespassing.

Reportedly one of the men is 20 years old from Carey Park, and the other is 23 from Australind.

The Perth show kicked off Metallica’s long-awaited return to Australia, with Adelaide next up later this week (November 5).

It’s the second headline about concert shenanigans that’s come out of Australia this week. Over the weekend, a fan launched a flare into the crowd at Oasis’ Melbourne gig.

Metallica themselves seem to be enjoying their time across the ditch. James Hetfield dressed up as a giant kangaroo for part of their Perth set, and was snapped hanging out backstage with Anthony from The Wiggles.

Not long to go now til Metallica will be tearing it up at Auckland’s Eden Park. Let’s hope no arrests are made at that one.
