Legendary American journalist and TV personality Barbara Walters has died at the age of 93.
"Barbara Walters passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones," said publicist Cindi Berger in a statement.
"She lived her life with no regrets. She was a trailblazer not only for female journalists, but for all women."
Barbara Walters was considered one of the most influential figures in American television and journalism. She was best known for her work as a co-host of the popular current affairs show 20/20 and as a co-host of the morning show 'The View'.
She also made her own headlines when she became the first female co-anchor of the ABC news network, and the first female US network news anchor to sign a US$1 million annual salary. She continued to work at the news network for 15 years.
In her time as a journalist and media personality, she won 12 Emmy awards and has interviewed every US president from Richard Nixon to Donald Trump. She has also had rare interviews with infamous figures like Cuba's Fidel Castro to Russia's Vladimir Putin.
Barbara Walters is survived by her only daughter, Jacqueline Danforth.
