This 90sec Tim Tam mug cake recipe might be the cure for winter blues

Careful, it might become a daily must have.

Mug cakes - the OG of lazy sweet treats - are having a bit of a comeback, and there’s a recipe floating around with a choccy bikkie twist.

Forget the Tim Tam slam, there’s a new winter recipe to hit the spot in under two minutes.

Though it’s definitely a solo mission to bake this one, no feeding the whole family in one go.

Grab one mug, and carefully measure out 4 Tbsp of plain flour, 3 Tbsp of white sugar, 2 Tbsp of cocoa powder, ¼ tsp of baking powder and a wee pinch of salt.

Stir that all together in your mug.

Then chuck in 3 Tbsp of milk, 2 Tbsp of olive oil and ¼ tsp of vanilla extract.

Give it a good mix until it’s all batter-like and smooth, then (here’s that twist) crumble in one Tim Tam - any flavour will do.

Pop it in the microwave for 1 minute and 20 seconds - no more, no less - and voila! You’ve got a warm, gooey, Tim Tam loaded mini cake perfect for scoffing your face with while watching a bit of telly.

Personally, mine wouldn’t last past the 'Love Island' intro, but that’s on a lack of self control.

Now, I know it’s not a revolutionary recipe and that mug cakes have been around for yonks!

In fact, I remember demolishing three back-to-back in 2009 and then swearing I wouldn’t touch another sweet treat again.

But this might just be what reels me right back into it.

Be warned though, these can either be a soft, spongy dream… or a sad rubbery mess.

There’s no real secret except to manifesting that when the final ding of the microwave rings you’ve got a perfectly risen, moist cake waiting behind that door.

So, if you're after a quick sugar hit that doesn’t require any actual effort – this might just be it. Just don’t blame me when you’re making one every night.
