The rumour mill has been working overtime, but now it’s time to scream, and shout, and let it all out - Britney Spears is seemingly coming our way, to tour Australia.

Earlier this month, the Princess of Pop teased fans with a deeply personal Instagram post. She made it clear she has no plans to perform in the US again because of “extremely sensitive reasons”, but she dropped a bomb claiming she wanted to perform Down Under.

“I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son… in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon,” she shared.

The post, which had 785k likes and 26k reposts, sent fans into orbit. Still, people were sceptical. She did only say she "hoped" to come to the UK and Australia, and given how challenging her personal struggles have been, it was far from an official announcement.

Now, though, things have ramped up significantly. We've gone cryptic Instagram post to an official Ticketek waitlist opening up for Britney shows in Australia.

“Want to know when a Britney Spears tour hits Australia? Want to know when Britney Spears tickets go on sale?” the website asks. They said WHEN, not if, people!!

There has been no further announcement on dates or venues, but you can officially register to be on the waitlist. Is this real life? Of course, Ticketmaster may also just be wishful thinking, but that seems like a rogue move for an industry giant like them.

This would mark Britney’s first time on an Aussie stage since her iconic Circus tour in 2009, where she performed 16 shows across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide.

The big question on everyone’s mind is: If this is happening, what is the tour actually going to be? Her recent post suggests a more intimate performance alongside her son Jayden, who is a talented pianist.

Her most recent singles came out in 2022 with Elton John and 2023 with will.i.am, so there are no telling signs about what the show could be.

I know a heeeap of Kiwi fans would happily catch a flight across the ditch to yell "IT'S BRITNEY, BITCH!" so we'll just have to wait and see!
