You've probably heard the news already that TipTop has decided to discontinue selling their 2-litre tub of Goody Goody Gum Drops. If you're like me, this was a huge blow to my dessert plans and my childhood memories.
Well, lucky for us, the Kiwi company that created the gum drop lollies, Rainbow Confectionary, is selling them by the bag.
"The ultimate in goody gum drop goodness!" they wrote on their website. "Perfect with ice cream, or enjoyed on their own!"
How good does some homemade goody goody gum drop ice cream sound?! Will have to try it out, especially with Summer on the way. They also look pretty good to eat just by themselves, when you've earnt a treat!
TipTop broke the hearts of a lot of Kiwis late last month when they took to Facebook to announce they would be halting production on both the Gum Drops and Cookie and Cream flavoured 2L tubs.
"As you all know, Tip Top's ice cream is always made with the best quality ingredients, including fresh milk and cream, and unfortunately, due to significant cost pressures relating to these items, we could not continue these two flavours in the 2L format without sacrificing the quality of our ice cream," they wrote,.
"The two flavours will continue in scoop shops, and cookies and cream will continue as a popular flavour in other product formats such as Trumpet Colossal Cone, Memphis Meltdown, and also now for Kapiti tubs and multipacks."
"We will of course continue to look for options to make these flavours available again for Kiwis in a Tip Top tub format in supermarkets, at the same quality that they know and expect from Tip Top ice cream."
We do hope that one day the original Goody Goody Gum Drops flavour can make a comeback, but until then we'll have to give just the gum drops a try.
