It’s been a massive year for The Rock Drive. We’ve had medical disasters, absolute stitch-ups, and enough listener yarns to ban us from polite society forever.

Because we know you love a bit of misery loves company, we’ve pulled together the absolute standout moments from the podcast this year.

Here are the Top 10 episodes that had us wheezing in 2025.

1. Westie Lee's rash

It wouldn’t be a classic year without Lee sharing something arguably too personal. This wasn’t just a bit of an itch; it was a knee-down situation of “big red rashy welts” that sent him to the ER.  Lee reckons it was just a reaction to something benign, but the way he described the texture had Jay cringing.

Also in this ep: Coupley Friday Funnys, Asteroid chat, and VHS dating tape chat.

2. Jay's birthday (almost)

The boys couldn't let Jay's birthday slide without a proper stitch-up. Dunc delivered a heartfelt poem on air that focused almost entirely on the size of Jay’s head. There were also some very kind words from Jay’s mates: Donald Trump, Denzel Washington, Joe Rogan, Stephen Hawking, Morgan Freeman and Elton John.  Absolutely no AI was used in these legitimate celebrity recordings.

Also in this ep: Sleep Mischief, Corporate Jargon chat, and a Grunge vocalist.

3. Elephant sperm

This yarn took a hard left turn into the cooked territory of the animal kingdom. Some poor battler of a bloke got absolutely blasted with elephant sperm as part of his job. Dunc even had a similar, equally cooked yarn to share. It's one of those classic "how did we get here?" conversations that defines the Rock Drive.

Also in this ep: There’s no one else like me, hangover cures and men’s undies chat.

4. Winner winner chicken dinner

It was all wins this day. Not even kidding, there were THAT many giveaways - a GIB prize winner, No Repeat Workday winner, a smoko chat winner, a Rock the Globe winner, a Big Ben Pies Winner AND a NZ Music Month winner. Yep - you heard that right. Epic scenes.

Also in this ep: To be honest, not much else. Just a whole lotta winners.

5. We're off duck shooting tomorrow

A nostalgic yarn in this one about the opening weekend of duck shooting season, even in amongst a bit of a weather bomb of a weekend. It was pure, unfiltered fizz from the boys about getting out into the maimai, coupled with the dread of the early wake-up call. A staple of the Kiwi calendar.

Also in this ep: Devilskin, Sleep Mischief, and a fat sumo wrestler.

6. Red flag hobbies

The text machine absolutely lit up for this one. We asked for the hobbies that make you run for the hills, and New Zealand delivered. From bull-fighting to train spotting, the listeners proved once again that there are some properly strange units out there. Lee and Tiegs (filling in) had a field day with this list.

Also in this ep: Pie awards chat, a Friday Funny, and Westie Lee’s high school math teacher reunion.

7. Toilet brush in the bottom

We have to be careful how we phrase this, but let’s just say this was an ER story for the ages. It’s the kind of yarn that makes your eyes water just thinking about it. A listener wrote in with a predicament that is true to the episode title, leaving the boys absolutely speechless. Unbelievable scenes.

Also in this ep: A few legends - David Havili, Tim Naki and Anton Lienert Brown.

8. The moonhopper is back

This one had too many bangers to choose from. Between a good Must Listen (that you could still get amongst these holidays), to move quotes in real life, and a nasty version of Just Got On With it Ayeeee - this episode is a goodie.

Also in this ep: Dating deal-breakers, Stone Cold Steve Austin chat, Bunnings jingle & a Must Watch.

9. 20 Hotdogs

Westie Lee, as we know, is the Hotdog King. He shared memories of smashing 20 Costco hotdogs over the span of only a few days in the summer holidays. It had all the boys drooling over just how delicious these bits of glory are. They leave you full for hours, they’re tasty with several variations of toppings - just immaculate.

Also in this ep: Jonah Lomu chat, Jay’s wild world of sports and Explaining to Adults.

10. 50 years of eating Big Macs twice a day

A tribute to dedication, or maybe madness. We dove into the story of the legend who has eaten more fast food than arguably anyone else on earth. He’s been smashing two Big Macs a day for 50 entire years. Lee and Tiegs couldn’t quite believe how he’s managed to do it, but were impressed in some sense of the word.

Also in this ep: Matt Payne on Liam Lawson, Flavoured Condoms chat and a Friday Funny.
