The Irwin family will honour Steve at Bindi's wedding in a beautifully simple way

Mum Terri shared how the family will especially honour the late Steve Irwin at Bindi's wedding.

Bindi Irwin and fiance Chandler Powell are getting closer to their wedding date. And while they've not revealed any finer details, mum Terri did share how the family will especially honour the late Steve Irwin.

During the wedding at Auckland Zoo in Queensland, Steve's absence will be recognised by Terri, her son Robert, Bindi, Chandler, and zoo director and Steve's best friend Wes Mannion all lighting a candle at the reception.

Terri told the Courier Mail: "We want to acknowledge Steve by all of us lighting this candle for him, but you know, I guess in some ways it's not necessary because Steve will be there anyway."

"I believe the people we love always are."

"You know, if you are missing someone, I think it's helpful to know that scientifically you can't actually create or extinguish life, you can only change its form."

"So if you are grieving someone you loved very much, look to science and just remember when you boil the kettle and steam comes out, it doesn't mean the water has gone."

Bindi has already revealed that she'll have her 16-year-old brother Robert walk her down the aisle, stepping in for her dad.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Bindi shared: "It'll be really important that Robert walks me down the aisle."

"I'm always so grateful that Robert is there, and he has been such a big part of my life and he's always stepped up and been the one to give me a hug when I need it and encourage me forward in life."

"So he will definitely be the one to walk me down the aisle when the time comes, and I think that will make it really special."
