The Dominator & The Hitman talk Super Rugby vs NPC, athletics, Premier League and more

They also touched on the Warriors, who are set to face the Dolphins in their last game of the regular season on Saturday evening.

Following last week's World Track & Field Championships, Kiwi high jumper Hamish Kerr has shaken off an underwhelming showing to claim second place at the Diamond League in Zurich on Friday morning.

With a jump of 2.34 metres, a New Zealand record, Hamish 'The Hitman' McKay told REX host Dom 'The Dominator' George it was a very impressive performance.

"If you're winning on a regular basis at a diamond league, you're competing against the best eight or ten times a year.this is fantastic," he said.

Zoe Hobbs finished seventh in a strong field of 100-metre sprinters, only 1/100th of a second away from fourth place at the same event and 1500-metre runner Samuel Tanner wasn't quite able to finish as well as he would have liked in 11th place.

Although most of the rugby world has their eyes on the big prize just a week out from the Rugby World Cup, Manawatu secured a historic 33-31 victory over Auckland in New Zealand's NPC Rugby competition on Wednesday evening.

Scoring a try at the hooter the Turbos had their first win over Auckland since 1981 the Turbos also achieved their first win at Eden Park since 1980 in the historic game.

With the recent NZR review released earlier this week suggesting the provincial competition could be on the chopping block, McKay told George he would rather see the Super Rugby Competition abolished over the NPC.

"I know it's (Super Rugby) been part of our DNA for 28 years but, I'd love to see them try and keep the NPC, I think that's how we keep the heart and soul of the country involved.

"It seems like the obvious thing is to chop the NPC but I'm not convinced that Super Rugby is everything it's chopped up to be and unfortunately, especially for our tight forwards, we need them playing in Europe."

The boys also touched on the English Premier League which is three games into the 2023/24 season and surprisingly West Ham is sitting just below Manchester City at the top of the table.

The mighty Warriors, who have already secured a spot in the top four, take on the Dolphins in their last game of the regular season on Saturday evening and both McKay and George hope the Kiwi side can continue their momentum going into the finals.
