The Block NZ crowns its Redemption winner for 2022

Redemption has been won!

Auckland mates Chloe Hes and Ben Speedy have earned the ultimate redemption by winning the 2022 season of The Block NZ.

The blue team, who previously appeared in season 7 in different teams, walked away with the $100,000 grand prize after their house sold for $1,145,000, making a $4000 profit.

The only other team to sell on Auction Night was Yellow Team couple Maree and James Steele, whose house made $100 profit selling at $1,152,100. The team also won this year's People's Choice Award.

The other two teams, Orange Team's Quinn & Ben, and Purple Team's Stacy & Adam failed to make their reserves which were set at $1,199,000 and $1,148,000 respectively.

Their houses eventually sold after auction night.

Season 10's Redemption theme set in Auckland's northern suburb of Orewa was all about four previous teams redeeming themselves for the mistakes they had made in their previous season. For Chloe Hes, she originally finished fourth and walked away with only a small amount of cash.

"Missing home was hard, but being able to return and winning room reveals which I never got in my first season was the ultimate redemption. To experience this with the crew and other teams made it all worth it," she told Newshub.

Ben Speedy also made good on his bet with host Mark Richardson that he would shave off his cherished moustache if their team won the season.

The Block NZ is available to stream now and will return for season 11. Applications are open for contestants at threenow.co.nz.
