If you thought you didn't need to hear a Māori waiata sung alongside the bagpipes, think again.
The New Zealand Team has shared a beautiful video on TikTok showing the coming together of two cultures ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The Auckland-based City of Sails Pipe Band is joined by a kapa haka rōpū for a powerful performance of the well loved waiata 'Tūtira Mai Ngā Iwi' .
The blend of the harmonies and the skirl of the bagpipes work perfectly together.
With this year's Games being held in Scotland, it's a pretty fitting way to celebrate.
Many Kiwis and Scots have flooded the comments, saying the performance gave them all the feels.
"Why does this make me want to cry 10-fold? Usually, both of these things do on their own; now you've doubled it and given it to the next person," one person wrote.
"I think it's the resonance of a bagpipe - it's an acoustic instrument that vibrates in the chest. It literally moves the heart. Same for voices combined with drums and dancing," another commented.
A third added: "Exactly what this song was written for and I'm absolutely here for it!!!"
With 'Tūtira Mai Ngā Iwi' translating to "people standing together", it's hard to think of a more perfect moment. Ātaahua!
The 2026 Commonwealth Games kick off from 23 July to 2 August, with Team New Zealand competing across 10 sports - swimming, lawn bowls, athletics, track cycling, boxing, 3x3 basketball, artistic gymnastics, judo, netball and weightlifting.
Good luck to all the athletes representing Aotearoa on the world stage!
