The Pretty Reckless’ Taylor Momsen has taken a trip down memory lane, revisiting the Christmas song she performed as Cindy Lou Who in How The Grinch Stole Christmas 25 years ago.

For those who didn’t know, Momsen starred alongside Jim Carrey in the 2000 Christmas film when she was just seven years old. The singer played Cindy Lou Who - the little girl at the heart of the story who questions the Grinch’s grumpiness and eventually convinces him to join in on Christmas.

In the film, Cindy Lou sings the ballad Where Are You Christmas?. Now, 25 years later, Momsen has recorded a new version of the song that blends her childhood vocals with her current ones. The song eventually cranks up into a bit more of a Pretty Reckless vibe.

The song comes as part of a six-song EP titled Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas, which is set to feature four original holiday tracks and two 'Grinch classics.'

“Revisiting ‘Where Are You Christmas’ 25 years later feels like coming home to a part of myself I hadn’t seen in a long time,” Momsen said in a statement.

“I was just a child when I first sang it, and I never could’ve imagined the way the song, and the film, would stay with people for so long and unknowingly shape my career path as an adult.”

Fans of the band seem to be loving the re-recorded song. One person wrote, “This is very clever. Good to see her embracing her iconic childhood role. Sounds great!”

Another wrote, “Now we just need a video with her singing while Jim Carrey as the Grinch rocks out with her.”

While a third only just realised Momsen was in the film: “So this is how I find out Taylor was Cindy-Lou.”

Even if Christmas songs aren’t usually your thing, there’s something pretty cool about Momsen revisiting her Cindy-Lou Who roots and giving the track a Pretty Reckless twist.
