Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp comes out as gay in new TikTok

"I guess I'm more similar to will than I thought."

Noah Schnapp, famous for portraying Will Byers on the hit Netflix show 'Stranger Things' has come out as gay in a new Tiktok.

The 18-year-old actor posted a video to his TikTok account in which he wrote, "When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was 'we know'".

In the video, Schnapp is lip-syncing to a sound that says "You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly it will never be that serious."

"I guess I'm more similar to will than I thought," the caption of the TikTok reads, referring to Noah's character Will Byers in 'Stranger Things'

Fans in the comments of Noah's TikTok are super supportive, sharing their well wishes and congratulations to the actor.

"PROUD OF YOU," wrote one fan.

"We love you," another wrote.

"YASSSSSS SO HAPPY 4 u💗💗💗💗," added a third.

Although it hasn't been outright confirmed in the show, earlier this year Noah told Variety that his 'Stranger Things' character Will Byers is gay.

"It was always kind of there, but you never really knew, is it just him growing up slower than his friends?" Schnapp said. "Now that he's gotten older, they made it a very real, obvious thing. Now it's 100% clear that he is gay and he does love Mike."

In that same interview, Schnapp is asked if he feels any similarities to his character as they are both young and discovering who they are.

"Yes, it has been a challenge, but I think it's just been fun to be able to step into his shoes," he replied. "Because I really have to take into account, like, this isn't just a single layer thing of he's struggling with coming out."

"It's this multifaceted trauma that goes years back, because he was taken by the Demogorgon and then his friends, they never acknowledged him, and now he's scared to come out and doesn't know if they'll accept him."
