You may have already heard that there are a few changes happening here at The Edge and as part of those changes Steph Monks' new job is making history in radio here in Aotearoa.
Discussing her new role on the 'Talking Out The Trash' podcast with co-hosts Mon and Oscar, Steph announced that she will be jumping into the Drive Show alongside Sharyn Casey and Nickson Clark in 2023 - what a bloody epic lineup that is.
Listen to the TOTT podcast to hear Steph chat about her exciting new gig here:
"If you're driving around listening to the radio stations you love, you might notice there's normally more guys on a radio show. So for the first time, we're breaking that mould on The Edge."
"It's honestly a true honour to be a part of that change within the industry."
Steph also delved deeper into why this opportunity is important not only to her but to all women within the industry.
"I know it's a running gag of 'you can't have two girls on a show' and we all joke about it being broadcasters and be like 'we sound the same' and we'll be in on the gag, but actually under the joke it has felt a little bit like there's maybe less chances for us."
Steph is also making herstory by becoming one of the first female anchors (that means pushing all the buttons btw) to lead a prime-time radio show.
We are so proud of Steph for making this epic progression in her career here at The Edge and we can't wait to see all the epic stories and laughs she brings to the show in 2023 - onwards and upwards baby! Oh, and Steph has also asked me to tell you that if anything goes wrong, the wrong song is played or the microphones aren't on it has absolutely nothing to do with her. ;D
