Danny Carey reckons a new Tool album could land in 2027, with Las Vegas Sphere shows on the cards.
If you’re a Tool fan, you already know patience is part of the deal. These guys don’t rush anything. It’s been nearly seven years since Fear Inoculum dropped, and now drummer Danny Carey has finally given us something solid to chew on.
Speaking to Spiral Out Network, Carey said, “[We’re] working on a lot of new Tool songs now, hopefully 2027, that’s the goal.”
Carey also revealed the band are keen on doing a stint at The Sphere in Las Vegas when the new record lands.
“We’re very much into that. We’re hoping when we release the new record, maybe do a stint at the Sphere, ’cause I think we’re the perfect band for that. We’ve been talking to those guys.”
And honestly, he’s not wrong. Tool’s visuals are already next-level. Plug that into a venue that looks like it was built by aliens and you’ve basically got a spiritual experience with better lighting.
Carey admitted it’s not cheap either. “It’s a very expensive endeavor and it takes a while to get into the black,” he said. “I think it’s a few shows before you make any money.”
He’s even toured the place. “It’s incredible man, I almost got vertigo.”
In other Carey news, he’s just drummed on the title track for the new film Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die, alongside Joe Cardamone and Shepherd Stevenson.
Meanwhile, there are other reports circulating that Metallica could also be in talks about a Las Vegas sphere residency.
We’ll have to wait and see if either, or both bands lock in the deal.
