So travel is a thing again, but how does NZ rank on the most powerful passports list?

Hopping on Instagram sucks at the moment because we all have that friend that's escaped NZ and is living it up overseas.

With international travel finally coming back into play, we wanted to know how the Kiwi passport stacks up against the rest of the world so we can stop dreaming about sunning ourselves on a yacht in Croatia, and actually do it (if we only had the cash).

Every year, the Henley Passport Index ranks which little book of stamps can get you the furthest with the least fuss, or is considered the 'most powerful.

The New Zealand passport comes in at number 6 this year, meaning we can enter 186 countries visa-free - as can those with a US passport.

Not too shabby for a little island nation at the bottom of the world. Ahead of us are countries like the United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands and Germany.

At the top of the list for 2022 are Japan and Singapore - their passports allow citizens to visit a whopping 192 countries without requiring a visa.

In last place is Afghanistan, whose citizens can only visit 26 countries visa-free.
