Shailene Woodley and David Harbour win first Emmys

Shailene Woodley and David Harbour have each taken home their first-ever Emmys.

The actors picked up their first major gongs for Paradise and DTF St. Louis, respectively, at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Sunday.

Shailene, 34, who plays a former tour guide in the post-apocalyptic thriller series, gave a shout-out to her mother as she received the award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series - her first-ever Emmy. She then compared working in the acting business to being a circus clown.

"Mom, this is so cool," the actress gushed in her acceptance speech. "I just feel so lucky to do what we do and to be a part of the circus with all of you amazing travelling storytelling clowns."

Backstage, Shailene told Deadline she had learned a lot from her on-screen alter ego.

"Annie is very calculated, and she's very patient in her decisions, and that's something that I have learned from and something that I've definitely taken with me as I've moved forward away from her," she said.

"I also really admire her resiliency, and that her resiliency comes from an internal place, not from a place of needing gratification, from an external perspective, and I think that's a very rare and beautiful quality to have as a person."

Meanwhile, David Harbour picked up the prize for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his role as the hapless American Sign Language interpreter Floyd Smernitch, marking his first-ever Emmy win.

"I'm really moved, I cannot believe you have embraced our show so much," David, 51, said on stage as he accepted the award. "In terms of my fellow nominees, it was not a fair fight."

The Stranger Things alum beat out his DTF co-stars Jason Bateman and Richard Jenkins, as well as Richard Gadd of Half Man.

David further quipped, "I want to thank HBO for all your tons of notes. They honestly helped the show so much".
