Auckland City Football Club have spoken out about being the target of a cybersecurity attack, which has seen sexually explicit images posted to their social media.
The club’s Facebook page was hacked last night, and they have since not been able to access the page to delete the close to 50 images of women in suggestive positions posted to their stories.

This morning, Auckland City FC said they are aware of the situation and released a statement on the cyber attack.
“We are currently working closely with the relevant authorities and cybersecurity experts to investigate and resolve the issue.."
The safety and integrity of our digital platforms are of utmost importance, and we are taking all necessary steps to restore normal operations.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of our supporters during this time. Further updates will be provided as appropriate.”
The earliest image currently active on the football club’s social media suggests the issue first occurred over 19 hours ago.
Though it's understood the club haven't had access for roughly 48 hours. An Auckland City FC spokesperson told NZ Herald they’d already reached out to police before the hacked images appeared.
A client of the club had been hacked earlier in the week, and suspected they'd be targeted next.
“The hackers have kicked out all the administrators so we have no control... we can’t remove anything,” they told the Herald.

At the time of writing, Auckland City FC are still unable to regain access.
The club is not to be confused with the A-League’s Auckland FC.
