Sam Smith and Christian Cowan engaged - report

Sam Smith and Christian Cowan are reportedly engaged after three years of dating.

The British singer-songwriter, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, and the fashion designer were first linked in December 2022.

And following the 2026 Met Gala in New York City on Monday night, editors at Page Six claimed Sam and Christian are set to wed.

Insiders told the outlet that the Cartier yellow diamond bauble the Stay with Me hitmaker wore to the annual fashion bash was an engagement ring.

In addition, a source revealed that the couple was overheard talking about their relationship in the hotel lobby before the Met Gala.

"From what I understand, it was a private engagement," they divulged. "They are over the moon, and from what I hear, so in love!"

Representatives for Sam, 33, and Christian, 32, have not yet responded to the report.

The couple attended the Met Gala together, with the designer having created the dramatic Erté-inspired black ensemble that the Too Good at Goodbyes star wore to the event. A matching black headpiece was created by Stephen Jones.

"I have always loved (artist-designer) Erté. I love the way he brought costume art to the world through his visionary illustrations. The infamous 1920's opulence and craft," Christian wrote in an Instagram post. "255,000 individual crystals and beads. 2,000 hours of artisanal hand sewing. This look is a love letter to the king of fashion illustration, and to my love, Sam."

Sam released their fourth studio album, Gloria, in January 2023.
