Sabrina Carpenter is on her way to secure the Northern Hemisphere's 'song of the summer' - and she's wearing hot pants while she does it.
The 26-year-old pop star sent fans into a frenzy yesterday with footage from what could be a new music video, showing her hitch-hiking on the side of the road as a truck drives past.
Now, Sabrina has confirmed her new single 'Manchild' will be dropping on Thursday night in the States, meaning 12pm on Friday New Zealand time.
The 'Espresso' singer captioned a post on Instagram: "This one's about you!" which fans are taking to be a not-so-subtle dig at her ex-boyfriend, Barry Keoghan.
The 'Saltburn' actor and Sabrina reportedly split at the end of last year, amidst a wave of rumours he had cheated on her.
Shortly afterwards, Barry issued a statement asking for an end to the online harassment he was receiving. He didn't mention Sabrina or the breakup rumours directly, but did say there were "absolute lies" about him being spread online.
Sabrina never commented on the controversy… until now?
If 'Manchild' is about Barry, it wouldn't be the first time he's been referenced in her music. Her song 'Please, Please, Please' is widely believed to be about him, and he famously starred as Sabrina's lover in the music video for the hit track.
Her song 'Bed Chem' also seemingly references his "white jacket" and "thick accent".
The exclusive vinyl version of 'Manchild' is already available for pre-order, and it features a second track titled 'inside of your head when you've just won an argument with a man', which is definitely giving iconic breakup anthem vibes.
