Rog is leaving The Rock after 34 years on The Morning Rumble

Roger Farrelly, better known to generations of Rock listeners as Rog, is leaving The Morning Rumble after 34 years behind the mic, before making the move to The Sound in 2027.

Rog announced this morning that he will finish up at The Rock on Friday, November 27, bringing an end to a run that has seen him become one of the defining voices of The Morning Rumble.

"I'm so proud of The Rumble... the fun we have each morning, the people on it, but importantly the listeners who have been part of and contributed to the show over the past 34 years. The Morning Rumble is probably going to have its best year in over a decade... the timing couldn't be better!” Rog said.

He won't be disappearing from the radio, though. From January 2027, Rog will join Georgia Cubbon on The Sound's breakfast show.

“Well I'm pretty pumped. I grew up on the music of The Sound so this feels like a natural next step. Let's see if I've got another 34 years in me!"

Back at The Rock, Jayden King, aka Creech, will take over the anchor chair alongside Bryce, Mulls and Mel.

Before Rog gets out the door, there's one last send-off. His final day coincides with Rog’s Last Dance - The Farewell Theatre Shows, kicking off in Christchurch on November 27 before heading to Hamilton on November 28.
