Rod Stewart gets a huge tattoo in NZ by local Auckland artist

"Amazing celebration to end a great Australian/New Zealand tour".

Sir Rod Stewart has gotten a huge tattoo inked in Tamaki Makaurau while finishing the Australia/New Zealand leg of his tour.

The singer has been performing a greatest hits tour across Australia and New Zealand over the last month and wrapped it up with a sold-out show in Auckland on Sunday.

And, what better way to close it out than the addition of some new ink?

Heading over to a local Kiwi tattoo parlour, the musical legend Rod decided to get his favourite football team permanently marked on his shoulder.

The Auckland-based artist Ray Waller got to work tattooing a Glasgow Celtics Scottish FC team logo on him.

Rod shared a photo of the new ink to his Instagram account along with the caption: "Getting a 'Glasgow Celtic' tattoo in Auckland to celebrate my beloved team 'You're in My Heart'."

The pic shows Rod sitting in the chair in the process of receiving his latest addition to his collection of tattoos.

Sharing some love for the new art, Rod's wife Penny Lancaster wrote: "Amazing celebration to end a great Australian/New Zealand tour".

She also happened to catch a sneaky snap of him enjoying the Celtics game while at a local bar in the early hours of the morning. The man has some dedication to his team!

Over Easter, Rod's family spent time exploring Tamaki Makaurau, going fishing on Rakino Island in the Hauraki Gulf and checking out the Sky Tower in the CBD.

Needless to say, it seems like Sir Rod Stewart enjoyed his time down under, and we love to see him getting amongst what we have to offer here in Aotearoa!
