Don’t miss the latest episode of The House of Wellness with Chemist Warehouse on the Breeze where Mike sits down with acting royalty Robyn Malcolm, culinary stars Nadia Lim and Alice Taylor, Move It Mama creator Lisa Fong, and resident pharmacist Piyara Perera.
Featured Guest: Robyn Malcolm
New Zealand acting icon and cover star for March’s issue of The House of Wellness magazine, Robyn Malcolm, reflects on a career that continues to evolve into her 60s.
Best known for her roles in ‘Outrageous Fortune’, ‘Shortland Street’ and the recent ‘Pike River’ movie, Robyn speaks about ageing, purpose, self-acceptance and encourages women to “own” every stage of life rather than fear it.
“It’s my job to be 61,” she said.
“The babies, the 22-year-old girls need to see me owning my age, having a really good time with it and really enjoying life.”
“It’s my responsibility to myself and to them to own this,” she finished.
She believes staying curious and seeking new experiences is key to remaining youthful, while losing purpose is what truly ages people.
Featured Guests: Nadia Lim & Alice Taylor
Nadia Lim and Alice Taylor have collaborated on Saver Flavour, a free digital cookbook designed to help Kiwis eat nutritiously on a budget.
With research showing 74% of people find it harder to cook healthy meals due to rising costs, they shared tips on using seasonal produce, bulk-buying, and swapping expensive proteins for legumes.
Nadia even shared her personal hack for saving hundreds of dollars by stewing and freezing seasonal fruit for the winter months.
Featured Guest: Lisa Fong
After having four children, Lisa Fong felt she had lost her “sparkle” and turned to home workouts to regain confidence.
From those early days of exercising in her living room, she founded Move It Mama, a supportive online fitness community for mothers focused on feeling stronger, happier and more empowered.
Over the years the platform has grown into a full-featured app offering live workouts, programs for beginners, gym routines, yoga, pilates, boxing and postpartum rehab.
Lisa emphasises that fitness should be about the feeling and mental clarity rather than just weight loss, especially when navigating life’s major challenges.
Resident Pharmacist: Piyara Perera
This week, Piyara investigated the necessity of mouthwash, explaining that it is a supplement rather than a replacement for brushing and flossing.
She recommended alcohol-free options to avoid drying out the mouth and highlighted chlorhexidine as a short-term antiseptic often used after dental surgeries.
Piyara also stressed the importance of regular six-monthly visits to a dental hygienist for preventative care to avoid more costly repairs later.
