Robert Pattinson was "absolutely traumatised" by his audition for the 2006 movie 300.

The Twilight actor has revealed that he and his fellow auditionees were given very unusual instructions when they tried out for roles in Zack Snyder's hyper-stylised historical action epic.

During a game of Lie vs. Lie with Entertainment Weekly, Pattinson shared his worst audition story with his The Drama co-star Zendaya.

"The worst audition story was, pretend to carry a rock from one side of the room to another in your underpants. A heavy rock. And that was it, that was the only audition," Pattinson divulged.

Zendaya decided the story was true because Pattinson had already told her about it before.

The Batman actor continued, "All the guys in England were doing that, and everyone came out looking absolutely traumatised, and not a single person got the job."

While Zendaya felt like her co-star was being truthful, she admitted that she can't always tell when he's lying with his wild stories.

"Rob throws me off, because you have so many crazy stories," she explained. "I know that some of them are true, because I've heard you tell them over and over and over again to other people, exactly the same. That feels like it's the truth. It's not like he's exaggerating every time he says it."

Gerard Butler ultimately starred as Leonidas, King of Sparta, in 300, alongside David Wenham, Lena Headey, Dominic West and Michael Fassbender. A sequel, 300: Rise of an Empire, was released in 2014.

Pattinson and Zendaya's film, The Drama, will hit cinemas on Friday.
