Robbie Williams is headed back to New Zealand, but he's not totally sold on the dance skills of all of our countrymen.
The British popstar is set to play at Eden Park in Auckland on November 24 before heading south to Christchurch for a show at the new One New Zealand Stadium on November 28 - the first international concert at the stadium.
During a chat on More FM’s Breakfast Club with Si & Lana, the conversation shifted from the upcoming shows to a memorable moment Si might prefer to forget.
Ten years ago, when Simon competed on 'Dancing with the Stars', his first routine was to Robbie’s hit Rock DJ.
If you remember it, you’ll know it didn’t exactly go down as one of the show’s greatest performances. In fact, as Lana kindly pointed out, he was "ridiculed nationwide" for his moves.
To Si’s surprise, Robbie revealed he’d actually seen the clip.
“I’ve seen it,” he laughed.
“I get why you were ridiculed. It’s a wonder they let you have a career in public.”
Robbie admitted the moment lives somewhere deep in the back of his memory, but still gave Simon credit for getting out there and giving it a crack.
“God bless you for trying," he said.
It sounds like Robbie's show at the new Christchurch stadium later this year will be an incredible one, as he told us he treats every performance like it’s the biggest one he’s doing.
“Every gig I do, the next gig is always the most important show,” he said.
“I take entertainment very seriously.”
The new stadium is expected to hold around 34,000 fans, and Robbie says he’ll be ready to make it a night people remember.
“By the time I get there, it’ll be the most important gig I’m doing,” he said.
“I just want to make sure whatever money people have spent to come and see me is worth it.”
Tickets for Robbie Williams in Auckland and Christchurch go on sale Thursday, March 26, at 1 pm.
