Ringo Starr gave director Sam Mendes extensive notes about the script for his upcoming biopic film.
The British filmmaker is gearing up to make an epic four-film Beatles movie event, with each biopic set to focus on a different member of the Fab Four
In an interview with The New York Times, the drummer revealed that he flew to London in April and spent two days with Mendes going over the script for his film line by line.
The 84-year-old offered extensive notes to Mendes to make his depiction more accurate and authentic, particularly with scenes involving his family and his first wife, Maureen Starkey Tigrett.
"He had a writer - very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I," Starr explained.
"That's not how we were. I'd say, 'We would never do that.'"
The musician noted that he's now much more satisfied with his depiction on the page, even though he's unsure how Mendes will go about filming four movies.
"But he'll do what he's doing, and I'll send him peace and love," he added, using his signature mantra.
In May, it was revealed that award-winning writers Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan and Jack Thorne are working on the screenplays for the mammoth biopic project. However, it is unclear if they're working together on all four films or each writing one on their own.
Starr has also met with Barry Keoghan, who will be playing him in the film. The Irish actor revealed on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ in May that he went around the rocker's house and observed how Starr played the drums.
Keoghan will star alongside Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.
'The Beatles - A Four Film Cinematic Event' will be released in April 2026.
