Rajkummar Rao is on a biographical roll. Fresh off the buzz of his upcoming courtroom drama, the actor is gears-shifting from the legal world to the cricket pitch. The anticipation surrounding his next massive project, Dada – The Sourav Ganguly Story, has reached a fever pitch with major updates on its first official reveal.

According to industry sources, the makers are planning to unveil the first look of the sports biopic on July 8, perfectly timed to coincide with the former Indian cricket captain’s birthday.

A Birthday Tribute and Release Date Rumors

Filming for the highly anticipated biopic kicked off at a brisk pace in April. Now, a source close to the production reveals that the team is pulling out all the stops for a special reveal that goes beyond just a poster.

"The team is preparing for a special reveal on Ganguly's birthday and may also officially announce the film’s release date," the source shared.

If the release date is locked in this week, the makers are expected to secure one of the major upcoming holiday or festival release windows, cementing its status as one of the biggest cinematic events of the year.

Cinema Meets Cricket

While the production house has kept official confirmation under wraps, the July 8 date has both cricket enthusiasts and cinephiles on high alert. Times of India reports, the first look promises to give fans their very first glimpse of Rajkummar Rao transforming into the iconic "Prince of Calcutta," offering a fitting tribute to Ganguly's enduring legacy.

A Packed Biopic Season for Rajkummar Rao

Before he walks out onto the pitch as Dada, audiences will see Rao commanding a very different kind of court. The actor is set to star as the celebrated public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam in Prahaar – The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam.

Directed by Avinash Arun, the gripping biographical courtroom drama is scheduled to hit theaters next month on August 7.

With a powerful double-header of real-life heroes lined up, Rao is primed to dominate the box office and the conversation for the rest of the year.
