D4vd was allegedly in possession of child pornography, a Los Angeles court heard on Thursday.
According to Rolling Stone, investigators obtained access to the Romantic Homicide singer's iCloud account, which they claimed "contains a significant amount of child pornography".
The development was revealed by a prosecutor, as the judge in the case was scheduling a follow-up hearing for 29 April to go over evidence production.
"There is a voluminous amount of digital data in this case," deputy district attorney Beth Silverman confirmed. Investigators had reportedly uploaded only approximately 30 per cent of their evidence after five weeks of work.
The musician, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was charged with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez on Monday. Her remains had been found severely decomposed in the boot of a car registered to Burke last September.
The first day of Burke's preliminary hearing, to review evidence in open court, was set for 1 May.
Burke has been charged with first-degree murder, as well as murder for "financial gain" and with the murder of a witness to an investigation.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is being held without bail. If found guilty, he could face the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
