The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared their well wishes and support to the New Zealanders affected by the devastating impacts of Cyclone Gabrielle this week.
The royals released their statement via a tweet from their official @kensingtonroyal page: "We are thinking of all the communities who have been affected by the devastating weather events in Aotearoa New Zealand," the royals said in a tweet.
"As ever, we are in awe of the valiant efforts of emergency responders risking their lives to help those in danger."
"Kia haumaru koutou katoa."
Cyclone Gabrielle "comes hot on the heels of other extreme weather events," the Prime Minister said, as reported by Today FM.
Tuesday the 14th of February dates New Zealand's third state of national emergency in our history.
As the weather continues to significantly affect those in Tairawhiti, Coromandel and Hawke's Bay, it is urged that residents keep up to date with what they need to know via Met Service forecasts and Waka Kotahi for updates on road closures. Today FM is also providing live updates for these regions.
Meanwhile, thousands remain cut off from power, internet, roading and accommodation proving to be a struggle for many Kiwis.
We would also like to wish anyone affected by the cyclone our deepest condolences and wishes for a quick and successful recovery on the back of this disaster.
