Whenever I feel like watching something that helps me enjoy time with my daughter while teaching her important lessons, I keep going back to these movies:
Inside Out and Inside Out 2, are not just fun animated films, they are beautiful reminders that every emotion we feel matters.
The first film takes you inside the mind of a young girl named Riley and turns emotions like Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust into actual characters. It sounds fun and silly at first but it hits hard emotionally. It beautifully shows that sadness isn’t weakness, it’s part of being human. Kids laugh at the colourful chaos, while adults quietly realise they’re being emotionally healed at the same time.
Then comes Inside Out 2 and somehow it gets even more real. As Riley becomes a teenager, new emotions arrive, especially anxiety, and that character feels painfully relatable for almost everyone today. The movie captures growing up, overthinking, fitting in, pressure, identity and emotional overwhelm in such an honest but gentle way that both teens and parents understand themselves a little better.
These movies aren’t just “kids cartoons. They’re emotional life lessons wrapped in humour, chaos, memories and heartwarming moments. You laugh, you cry, you remember your childhood, and you end up thinking differently about your own emotions.
