Polynesian Reggae King ‘Fiji’ dies at age 55

We lost a legend today.

George “Fiji” Veikoso, a legend, artist, storyteller, and one of the most influential voices in Pacific music, has sadly passed away at the age of 55. 

No details have been shared, but Polynesian Music confirmed the sad news on their Instagram. 

Born in Fiji and raised in Hawaii, Fiji was a pioneer. His voice and music touched many hearts across, and beyond, the Pacific.

Tributes on social media have begun to pour in for the Polynesian music king. 

Kiwi reggae band ‘Sons of Zion’ have taken to Instagram to share their condolences, captioning it “Forever in our hearts. Love you, Fiji, thank you for everything, King.” 

American Producer Damon Elliott has also expressed his hurt: “I just lost my best friend and big brother… He believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself, he showed me nothing but kindness and love beyond I can’t believe it.. I love you Fiji more then words!!! “

Thank you, Fiji, for your music and you. Your legacy will forever live on. Rest easy, Fiji.
