If you've spent the last few years mourning the disappearance of the popular Kiwi sweet treat Pods... sit down for this one.

The iconic chocolatey snack is making a comeback this month!

From July 7, Mars New Zealand has confirmed the Mars, Snickers and Twix flavoured crispy wafer and chocolate-topped bites will be back on shelves.

However, Pak'nSave Napier has wasted no time letting the people know.

Mars NZ country director Shane Hammond told NZ Herald the comeback has been a long time coming.

“Pods fans have been very patient…Bringing them back felt less like a decision, and more like answering a national call to action.”

Honestly, he's not wrong.

One NZ Reddit user described the longing and sacrifice we were willing to put our wallets through just to get our hands on a packet.

In 2024, they wrote: “I remember my heart breaking when they announced they were discontinuing Pods... I can't find them in any supermarket, although once or twice I've seen them, extremely overpriced, at dairies (you bet your butter I buy them, even if they're charging $9 for one bag).”

It’s been a long five years of waiting since Mars announced the discontinuation in 2021.

At the time, the company said the "difficult decision" was due to changes in its manufacturing capability.

“We don’t make these decisions lightly, and when we do, we always try to balance the expectations of our customers with the needs of our business,” then-general manager Peter Simmons said.

“We recognise some will be disappointed by this change, and we hope it’s not long before they find a new favourite treat from the Mars lineup.”

Safe to say that didn’t happen…

It just goes to show what a little determination and passion can do. Welcome back, old friend!
